Being located in the golf course and park, the project includes operational buildings that are related to the water treatment plant below grade, 13 acre green roof driving range, netting pole structure, clubhouse, and storm water management system. The storm water management system aims zero black water out to city sewage by having a closed loop. The retaining walls and constructed wetland cells are carefully designed for security and as parts of landscape. The water feature with constructed wetland cells and green roof driving range can be viewed from the roof deck of the clubhouse, which will be opened to the public for events by local residents or outdoor classes for local students. Being located inside the Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, the clubhouse is designed as a part of the landscape - a green roof rising from the ground. The natural materials such as wood and stone have been chosen accordingly. The gfrc eave cladded with wood panels beneath the green roof and the clean facade accentuate the floating roof rising from the ground. The project consist of renovating two existing buildings and outdoor areas at an existing site in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley neighborhood into a new middle school campus with classrooms, science labs, a maker studio, a music room, and a learning center. The campus is near CAIS’s main Oak Street campus and allows for opportunities to share resources between the two campuses. The design carefully considers the school’s unique blend of cultures and integrates sustainable design strategies throughout.
